Larry “Jenks” Allen Jenkins, 79 of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

 

Visitation will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 South St., Lexington, MO, 64067, 660-259-2245.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Lexington Memory Gardens.  Memorials are suggested to Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Memories of Larry and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page.   

 

Larry was born on June 4, 1944, in Lexington, MO to Luke and Nancy Blanche (Breeden) Jenkins.  He graduated in 1962 from Lexington High School.  On March 9, 1963, Larry was united in marriage to Judith Mae Ainsworth in Lexington.  She preceded him in death on April 17, 1983.  He served in the Missouri National Guard until being honorably discharged.   Larry worked at the GM Leeds Plant in Kansas City until it closed, he then transferred to the Shreveport, Louisiana plant.  After 30 years of service Larry retired from GM.  He was a member of the UAW Local 93 in Kansas City.  Larry had a love for the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.  He was very artistic and excellent at drawing.  He loved to piddle and was known to fix just about anything that was broken.  Larry was well known for his green thumb, growing of fruit trees and grapes, as well as carrying on the tradition of homemade wine making.  He will be greatly missed. 

 

Larry is survived by his significant other of 20 years, Peggy Ruehter of Lexington, MO; six children, Susan Brock of Sedalia, MO, Greg (Billie) Jenkins of Wellington, MO, Scott (Sammie) Jenkins of Blue Springs, MO, Mark (Shannon) Jenkins of Blue Springs, MO, Dudley Guilford of Lexington, MO, and Leroy (Lana) Guilford of Lexington, MO; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iris (Steve) Cobb of Lexington, MO and Kim (Jeff) Guinn of Columbia, MO; one brother, Kevin (Leann) Jenkins of Richmond, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  

 

In addition to his parents and wife, Larry was preceded in death by a sister Phyllis “Jean” Davis; a brother, Bill Jenkins; a grandson, Weston Cretzmeyer; and a granddaughter, Chelsea Guilford.
