Lana Loy (Barnes) Helphrey, 77, of Odessa, MO passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Riverbend Health and Rehabilitation in Lexington, MO.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. There will not be any services at this time. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. Memoires of Lana and condolences for her family may be left at

Lana was born on May 17, 1943 in Odessa, MO to Elmer Lee and Jamie (Medley) Barnes. She graduated from Odessa High School in Odessa, MO. Lana was a stenographer and secretary. She worked at Bank of Odessa, First United Methodist Church and Bendix. She also had her own glass art business, Lana’s Glass Art from 1985-1995. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa and the Daughters of the American Revolution. In additions to spending time with family and friends, Lana enjoyed oil painting, stained glass, and scrapbooking.
Survivors in include two children, Mark Helphrey of Lexington, MO and Michele Breshears and husband Virgil of Grain Valley, MO; five grandchildren, Christina Heflin and husband Jay, Summer Smart and husband Joel, Paige Harned, Katja Breshears, and Rachel Allen and fiancé Collin Williamson; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Kay Waldor and husband Andre of Fort Payne, Alabama; and a niece, Susan Azbill and husband Jon of Fort Payne, Alabama.
Lana was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Barnes and her mother and stepfather, Jamie and Fred Summers.
