Kimberly Sue Smith beloved daughter and friend passed away on January 10, 2016 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Lee’s Summit Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, 301 S. 1st St., Odessa, MO. Visitation will be held on Monday January 18, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Memorial are suggested to the Cole Steelman Memorial Scholarship or the Collision Industry Foundation. Condolences for the family may be left at www.ralphojones.com or on our Facebook Page. She was born in Columbia, Missouri on February 18, 1964 to Robert L (Bob) Smith and Margaret E (Margo) Smith.
She graduated from Truman High School in Independence, Mo in 1982 where she was active in “Star Steppers Drill Team”. She then attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO where she was a member of Zeta Delta Ta Sorority, traveled to Japan and performed her internship in the office of Representative Ike Skeleton in Washington DC graduating on the Dean’s list with a BS in Political Science in 1986.
Kimberly started her career in business working with her parent’s claims business. Then moved to State Farm Claims in Kansas City and then onto USF&G where she transferred to Portland Oregon working major losses and catastrophes for companies such as St Paul’s Travelers and Farmers Insurance group. She finished her career with Allstate Insurance after living in Portland for twenty years.
Because of health she returned to the Midwest and settled in Odessa, Mo with her parents for the past six years. Where she attended The First United Methodist Church of Odessa
Kimberly loved swimming, yoga, golf, bridge, fashion and most of all being with family and friends.
She is survived by her parents of rural Odessa, a grandfather Frank Cobb of Montgomery City, MO, spiritual sisters Laurie Grove Rellihan of Independence, Ellen Vollrath of Washington DC, Marisa Adamo of Portland OR and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding her in death were grandparents Mart W and Alberta Smith of Mound City, MO, Ella Cobb of New Florence, MO, Rhonda Garrett Cobb, and one Uncle Daniel L Cobb of New Florence, MO.
