Dorothy M. Fried, 87, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Oak Grove Nursing and Rehab Center in Oak Grove, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2013 at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524, with Pastor Ray Meyer officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Dorothy Fried Memorial. Condolences for the family may be left at www.ralphojones.com. Dorothy was born on September 16, 1925 in Kansas City, MO to Otmer A. and Emma L. (Dunn) Burge. She graduated from Mayview High School in 1943. On December 30, 1969 she was united in marriage to John W. Fried in Miami, Oklahoma who survives of the home. Dorothy and John are members of the Grace Fellowship Church in Kansas City, MO. She was baptized into the body of Christ Jesus in 1964. She was very active in the church with the prayer chain ministry and making sure that those who were shut in could get copies of the sermons. Dorothy loved to write poetry and take car rides through the countryside, but most of all spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by five daughters, Karen Kay Sharp of Keystone, Iowa, Joyce Jean Guyer of Olathe, Kansas, Cynthia Christine Sweet-Shull and husband Richard of Sioux City, South Dakota, Wanda Lea Haase of Centerview, MO and husband Roy Helt of Harrisonville, MO and Lorrie Jane Sanders and husband Timothy of Odessa, MO; fifteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers Charles Albert Burge, William Burge in infancy and two cousins, Robert Dunn and Eugene Dunn who were raised by her parents.
