JW Miller, Jr.

JW Miller, Jr. 69, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023, at The University of Kansas Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home in Odessa MO.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be in McKendree Cemetery. JW was born October 23, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri to Jimmie Wein and Evelyn Fae (Moore) Miller, Sr. JW graduated from Roland High School in Roland Oklahoma. JW proudly served in the United States Air Force for three years as a Security Patrol Dog Handler. JW owned and operated JW’s Welding and Fabrication in Bates City. JW was united in marriage to Karen Lee (Summers) Miller on February 14, 1985, in Oak Grove, Missouri. He was a member of the Odessa MO Optimist Club and Optimist International. JW was affiliated with New Beginning Ministries. Along with spending time with his family, JW enjoyed fishing and being at Truman lake in Warsaw.    

JW is survived by his wife, Karen Miller; three children, Vicki (Chad) Alphin of Maynard, AR, Angie (Michael) Frump of Bolckow, MO, Brandy (Trent) Sewell of Poteau, OK; three grandchildren, Marcus (Megann) Alphin, Chesney Sewell, and Addison Frump; two great-grandchildren, Aurora and Charlotte; step-mother, Helen Miller of Blue Springs; three sisters, Shelia Heriford, Sandy Cole and Linda Scassellati; and many nieces, nephews, relative and friends.

JW was preceded in death by both his parents.
