JOSEPH (JOE) A. MUSSATTO, JR.
Joseph Alphonse Mussatto, Jr., 92, passed away Saturday, October 1. A lifetime resident of Lexington, Joe was born March 10, 1924, to Joseph Alphonse Mussatto and Tersilla Rose (Beretta) Mussatto.
He was a 1941 graduate of Lexington High School and attended college at Wentworth Military Academy. With the outbreak of war, Joe served in the US Navy as a pilot, on active duty until December, 1945.
A life communicant of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Joe was active in the Knights of Columbus, where he held the rank of fourth degree. Always involved in the community, Joe belonged to many organizations and held numerous positions over the years.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, the former Betty Barron, and brothers Ray and Charlie Mussatto.
Surviving is a sister, Dolly Fischer, of Lexington. Three daughters also survive: Victoria Tagai (Lee), Grain Valley, Janice Mussatto, Blue Springs, and Kathryn Bishburg (Eli), Highland Park, New Jersey. There are three grandchildren, Lou Ann Hultgren, Golden Colorado, Alec Venditti, Bridgeport, New York, and Leah Samet, Highland Park, New Jersey. Additionally, Joe leaves three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Catholic Mass was held Wednesday, October 5, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lexington, with a rosary preceding. Burial in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
