Joe was born on August 16, 1970, in Independence, MO to Robert “Bob” and Marie Isabel (Jones) Grubb. He was a 1989 graduate of Odessa High School in Odessa, MO. Joe was an All-State football player for the Bulldogs and the sixth Bulldog wrestling state champion. Joe won his state title in the 189 pound weight class. Joe went on to earn his bachelors degree in Biology while playing football for Central Missouri State University (UCM). Joe was the perfect example of what it means to be a Mule. Joe was inducted into the UCM Hall of Fame in 2010 with his accolades being second in school history with 333 tackles and a second team All American in 1991. He was first team All MIAA in 1991 and 1992. After college, Joe still maintained a great relationship with the Mules athletic department and was a founding member of the MBBL-Mule Ball Brothers For Life, an organization that contributes to the athletic programs at UCM.
On April 5, 1997, Joe was united in marriage to Tamra “Tami” Sue Cain in Wea, Kansas. Aside from being a dedicated husband and father Joe had many talents, carpentry being one of those. Tami had a knack for picking things out for Joe to build and Joe had the work ethic to make the vision come to life. Joe worked for JE Dunn Construction from 7/9/2014 - 12/29/2023 and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1127 since 1998. Joe enjoyed building, fishing, eating, a cold beer, but most of all spending time with family, friends and attending his daughters’ sporting events.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Tami Grubb of Odessa, MO; three daughters, Kylin (Ryan) Mantle of Jefferson City, MO, Kinly Grubb of Odessa, MO and Kloee Grubb of Odessa, MO; a grandson, Wesley Rhey Mantle; two sisters, Dina (Kris) Kehl of Odessa, MO and Robin (Kevin) Smith of Odessa, MO; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
