Jordan Leigh O'Malley-Freed

March 29, 1996 — March 13, 2016

Jordan Leigh O’Malley-Freed of Bates City won her battle and went home, Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the young age of 19. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends at her home in Bates City Mo.
Jordan was born March 29, 1996 in Kansas City Mo. She attended her school years in the Odessa school district. She enjoyed many activities such as volleyball, track, and basketball. She earned her academic letter for 3 years and was the 2013-2014 Homecoming Queen. She graduated in 2014 and then attended classes at Blue River Community College in Independence. Jordan worked for Pizza Hut of Odessa and for Duncan Academy of Oak Grove. Jordan loved kids and wanted to be a Kindergarten teacher. She spent her summertime at the lake with family where she enjoyed all water sports and fishing. Some of her favorite things were: shopping, driving her car, Chick fil A, pizza, Dr Pepper, running, painting her nails, spending time with her friends, playing board and card games, and being an amazing aunt.
She leaves behind her father Dean Freed and mother Belinda Freed of the home. Brother Kyle Ogan of Odessa, brother Brendan Freed of Independence, sister Lauren Freed of Oak Grove, brother Tristan Gee of Holden, brothers Trevor Stevens and Patrick O’Malley and sisters Adyln Lasley and Brinlee Patrick. Her niece Alexes and nephew Gabriel Ogan of Oak Grove, niece Abigail Barnes of Odessa, nephew Koleman and niece Maci Ogan of Odessa, nephew Christan Beebe of Grain Valley, niece Shaylee Carter of Lee’s Summit and soon to be niece Zoe Beebe that she couldn’t wait to meet! Her Grandparents Henry and Catherine Leighton of Independence and Grandmother Mary Lindsay of Belton. Jordan leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and most of all her best friends.
The past 3 years while battling brain cancer she became close with her doctors at The University of Kansas. The relationship that she formed with them was unlike any other doctor/patient relationship and was a genuine friendship. The community of Odessa wrapped their arms around Jordan and fought right along with her every step of the way. She loved her community and it was obvious that they loved her. The supporters of Team Jordan meant the world to her and she was honored to have so many caring people across the country take time to follow her story. In the final weeks Jordan was blessed to have some of the best hospice care imaginable with Three Rivers Hospice. They touched her heart as they went beyond the call in caring for her.
Jordan will be remembered for her beautiful smile, strength, bravery, her faith and what a true inspiration she is and will continue to be to all.
