John Steven “Steve†Zullig, 52, of Odessa, Missouri died Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, due to injuries sustained from a bicycle accident.
Steve was born on February 7, 1963, the son of John M. Zullig and Shelby (Murry) Zullig in Independence, MO. He was a 1981 graduate of Odessa High School. His career began in High School as a lifeguard at the Odessa Swimming Pool and working locally for Mattingly Brothers Store. Later he had careers with Macy’s, Gumps and was a Substitute Teacher for the Odessa R-7 School District. His most recent careers were with the Odessa Animal Clinic and Patricia’s Foods in Odessa. Steve attended the Christian Church in Odessa and was a member of their Handbell Choir. He had a love, talent and passion for music and often played the piano and organ also. He was an avid bicyclist, loved to draw and was known for his unique handwritten letters. He loved volunteering and giving back to the community. Throughout his lifetime, he lived in Missouri, California, Minnesota and Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shelby (Murry) Zullig on January 1, 2010.
Survivors include his father, John Zullig and a sister, Suzanne Zullig, both of Odessa, MO. Steve is also survived by many extended family members, friends and a community that loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the First Baptist Church , 100 W. Hwy OO, Odessa, MO, 64076, with Reverend Terry Hodges and Pastor Jason Thornton officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Odessa Trails Regional Library Building Fund. Condolences for the family may be left at
