John Renick Schooley, 81, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, MO.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Life Point Church, First Assembly of God, 707 S. 1st St., Odessa, MO, 816-230-7273. Funeral services will be held directly afterwards at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
John was born on February 3, 1938 in Lafayette County, Missouri to J. Calvin and Vivian (Doty) Schooley. After graduating from Odessa High School in 1956 John enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. In 1961, John united in marriage to Iris Wilcoxon. He worked as a machinist at Honeywell for 37 years. In addition to spending time with family and friends, John enjoyed his church, prison ministry, fishing, classic cars, Indian & Triumph motorcycles, watching The History Channel, spending time outdoors and working on projects in his shed.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, survivors include four children, John Mark Schooley and wife Genny of Columbia, MO, Anthea Vee Heil and husband Dan of Blue Springs, MO, Dwight Maurice Schooley and wife Mary of Boonville, MO, and Cristina Kay Bieber and husband Matt of Kodiak Island, AK; three grandchildren, Shane Benton Heil, Abigail Elizabeth Schooley and Allison Olivia Schooley; one brother, Charles Doty Schooley and wife Mary Helen of Independence, and one sister, Sandy Kay Faust and husband Reverend Dan of Boonville, MO.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
