John W. Morrison, 88, of Lexington, MO passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City.
John was born January 7, 1927 in Lexington to John W. and Leona Ilene Kidd Morrison. He married Winifred Tarlton, she preceded him in death on November 30, 1968. On June 2, 1972 John married Diana VanTrump Kohly, she preceded him in death on November 23, 2012.
John retired from Lake City Munitions after 38 years as a Mechanical Engineer. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and held a Master’s Degree in Engineering. John was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lexington, a life-time member of the V.F.W., a member of the American Legion and Lexington Rotary Club.
John is survived by his children: John Wm. Morrison, III and wife Deborah, Buckner, Patricia Morrison-Lewis, Cocoa, FL, Carol Ann Morrison, Olathe, KS, Andrew Kohly and wife, Shirley, Cowgill, MO and Matthew Kohly and wife, Sherri, Columbia, MO. Six grandchildren. In addition to his wives, Winnifred and Diana he was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Gary Lewis, grandsons, Seth Kohly and Sean Lewis and his sister, Ilene House.
Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Lexington United Methodist Church. Burial in Machpelah Cemetery, Lexington. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Lexington United Methodist Church.
