John L. King

Johnnie (John) L. King, of Odessa, Missouri passed away December 13, 2024, following a short but hard fought battle with ALS. 

John was born January 31, 1944, in Fort Scott, Kansas. John was the son of W. Earl and Betty A. King. He was a 1962 graduate of Prescott High School in Prescott, Kansas. He graduated in the top ten of his class (of ten).On August 22, 1964, he married Elaine Cross at the Methodist Church in Hume, MO. John and Elaine had three children together: J’laine, Johnna Kay and Joey. 

John is predeceased by his mother and father, Earl and Betty King; his brother, Connie King; his daughter J’laine Minden; and his partner in life, Myrna Sue Keasler.

John is survived by his sister, Donna Adams and her husband Bill of Burlington, KS; his daughter, Johnna Kay Roos, and her husband Robert of Lenexa, KS; his son, Joey King, and his wife Brooke of Stilwell, KS. John had six grandchildren: Blaine Minden, Blake Minden, Grant King, Olivia King, Brody King, and Ryder King along with one great grandson, Elliott Minden.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 South Second Street Odessa, Missouri 64067. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Odessa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to John King Memorial Scholarship Fund.
