John I. Morris, 84, of Lexington, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Lafayette Regional Health Center. John was born August 21, 1930 in Lexington to Lafayette Irwin and Reba Welsh Morris. John married Betty Lou Young on May 29, 1953 at Marshall, MO. John was retired from the General Services Administration where he worked as a Supply Chief. He was an Army Veteran. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lexington, where he had also served as a Deacon. He was involved with Boy Scout Troop 318 and was an honorary member of Tribe of Mic-o-Say. John is survived by his sons: Daniel Morris and wife, Teri, Independence, MO and William Morris and wife, Diana, Lexington, MO. He has four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, on September 21, 2011, his parents and a daughter, JoAnne McConnell. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Lexington. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lexington. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lexington.
