John Frederick Boland, 84, of Corder passed away October 7, 2021 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City. Visitation will be Monday, October 11, 2021 from 6:00 until 7:30 pm with a Rosary following at 7:30 pm at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lexington. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Dover. John was born November 24, 1936 in Grand Pass to Cletus and Rose (Melies) Boland. He graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army and then attended college at Wentworth Military Academy. On November 22, 1958 John married Shirley Ketner in Dover. John was a lifelong farmer, raising hogs, cattle and row crops. He also worked for five years at Lake City Ammunition, starting in 1982. He was a member of St. John the Baptist in Dover and then Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington. John was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and the USBC Bowling League. He loved to bowl and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping at the lake.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of the home; sons, Mark Boland of Corder and significant other, Cindy Soendker of Higginsville, Rodney Boland and wife Dawn Boland of Oak Grove and Fred Boland and wife Ramona Reyes-Boland of Grain Valley; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Sisters, Mary Kipping and husband Artie of Carrollton, Joan Clouse of Marshall, Helen Pigg and husband Robert of Richmond; brothers, Dennis Boland and wife Elsie of Waverly and Mike Boland and wife Carolyn of Waverly; and sister-in-law, Sally Boland of Nashville, Tennessee. As well as many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by brother, Linus "Lenny" Boland; brother-in-law, Wayne Clouse; granddaughter, Jessica Kay Boland and daughter-in-law, Julie (Caldwell) Boland.
