John Leslie Asher

John Leslie Asher, 91 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at ANew Senior Living in Odessa, MO.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 100 Hwy OO, Odessa, MO, 64076.  A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the church.  Interment with Military Honors will be at Blue Springs Cemetery in Blue Springs, MO.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church of Odessa.  Memories of John and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ralph O. John was born on August 4, 1931, in Denver, Colorado to Hubert and Ruth (Higgins) Asher.  He graduated in 1948 from Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO.  John was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  On July 22, 1951, John was united in marriage to Bonnie Dean Hedges in Independence, MO.  After 67 wonderful years of marriage, Bonnie preceded John in death on October 31, 2018.  John worked 25 years for Andes & Roberts Construction in Independence, MO as a Project Manager and Vice-President.  He then spent 10 years as a consultant for Hudson International Group.  John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa, MO and formerly served as Deacon for the First Baptist Church in Greenwood, MO, where he taught Sunday School and adult bible study for many years.  He was known for having a giving spirit.  John volunteered many hours of his construction knowledge by building additions to homes of people in need as well as using his skills on numerous mission trips.  In addition to spending time with his family and friends, John enjoyed reading, being outdoors, fishing, and being with his family. 

John is survived by seven children, Mike Asher (Janet) of Greenwood, MO, David Asher (Jill) of Mound City, MO, Dan Asher (Trixie) of Odessa, MO, Paul Asher (Kandis) of Warrensburg, MO, Tim Asher (Lesley) of Odessa, MO, Tom Asher (Carolyn) of Odessa, MO, Julie Lingham (Steven) of Cleburne, TX; 26 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.    

In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Jean Asher-Keen, and Joyce Marie Asher.
