Joanne Kay (Durst) Roland, 73, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 7995 Outer Rd., Odessa, MO, 64076 with Reverend Larry Neil officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Church. Burial will be at 12:00 p.m., January 23, 2015 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Joanne was born on October 30, 1941 in Muscatine, Iowa to Clarence Edward and Ruth Myra (Vetter) Durst. She graduated high school in 1959 from Nichols High School in Nichols, IA. On July 16, 1960 she married Richard “Ron†Roland in Muscatine, IA. She worked most of her career as a secretary and bookkeeper for various companies. Joanne was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa, MO. She was a member of the Praise Choir at Calvary Baptist Church. Joanne’s family was her main interest in life, when she wasn’t working or singing she could be found spending time with her grandchildren or attending one of their sporting events.
In addition to her husband Ron, Joanne is survived by two children, Lisa Porter and husband Allen of Springfield, MO and Shelley Conn and husband James of Mayview, MO; four grandchildren, Evan and Kristin Porter and Nicole and Nick Conn; five great grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Durst and wife JoAnn of Dunnegan, MO; one sister, Judy Hollenbeck and husband Jim of Bolivar, MO.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents.
