Joanne Gadt

Joanne Gadt, 90, of Warsaw, MO, formerly of Lexington, MO, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Warsaw Health and Rehab. Services will be Thursday, January 12 at 10:00am at the First Baptist Church, 525 South Business Highway 13, Lexington. Burial will be in Lexington Memory Gardens. Visitation is Wednesday, January 11 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the church.
Joanne was born July 4, 1926, the daughter of Floyd and Gladys (Barger) Norris in Ray County, MO. She grew up in Richmond and graduated from Richmond High School. She married James Louis Gadt , March 5, 1948 in Tucson, AZ. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2012.
After living in several locations, Joanne and her husband moved to Lexington where they built and operated Gadt Building Center at 2404 Main Street for 25 years.
Joanne graduated from CMSU with both a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's degree in Junior High Mathematics. She taught in Richmond and Lexington schools for 17 years.
She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, LRHC Auxiliary and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Lexington.
Joanne is survived by her son and daughter in law Mark and Janet Gadt; son in law Kevin Hicks; three grandsons, Charles L. Gadt, Robert D. Gadt and James Brian Hicks and sister in law Mary Jane Woodward.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, children, Jo Ellen Hicks and Jimmy Dale Gadt and two brothers, Earl E. Norris and James D. Norris.
