Jim Wade Jones, 80, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Cedarhurst of Blue Springs surrounded by family.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2023, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Heart of America Alzheimer’s Association. Jim was born on January 21, 1943, in Norwood, MO to Clyde Alva and Sarah Isabell (Sikes) Jones. He graduated in 1960 from Norwood High School. Jim was united in marriage to Betty L. Richardson on November 30, 1962, in Mountain Grove, MO. After 28 years of service, Jim retired in 1993 from General Motors Fairfax Plant in Kansas City, KS. He was a member of UAW Local 31. Jim was an outgoing family man who loved sports. Jim had the privilege to help coach his daughter’s softball team and assist with his son’s Boy Scout Troop. He loved going to the lake, fishing, and water skiing up until the age of 73. He played recreational baseball for many years as well. In addition to spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed hunting and traveling with Betty.
Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Jones of Odessa, MO; three children, Lynnette White and husband Jeff of Odessa, MO, Amy Jones of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Michael Jones of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Rachel White and Rance White; one brother, Gayland Jones and wife June of Norwood, MO; four sisters-in-law, Avenail Jones of Norwood, MO, Ginger Holt of Harrisonville, MO, Kay Ritter of Ava, MO, Judy Richardson of Mountain Grove, MO; one brother-in-law, Boyd Richardson and wife Sharon of Blue Springs, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ellen White; three sisters, Neva Fakes, Delores Smith, and Phyllis Odle; three brothers, Gorman Jones, J.D. Jones, and Gerald Jones; one sister-in-law, Susie Delcour; and one brother-in-law, Jack Richardson.
