Jessie “Jackie” Novelene Morgan, 93 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday November 15, 2016 at the New Haven Living Center in Odessa, MO
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524 with Reverend Terry Hodges officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund. Jackie was born on October 7, 1923 in Norfork, Arkansas to Jess Jenkins and Rosie Belle (Woods) Ritchie. On August 3, 1957 she married Lorain “Cotton” L. Morgan in Odessa, MO. Cotton preceded her in death on December 3, 1999. Jackie worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Corp. from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. She also worked at many restaurants throughout the area including Morgan’s in Odessa and PT’S in Oak Grove. Jackie retired as a Machine Operator from the Higginsville Garment Factory in 1988. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa, MO. A fond memory that Jackie used to share with her family was when she and her sisters would sing on KDRO Radio Station in Sedalia. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Jackie enjoyed reading and traveling.
Jackie is survived by two sons, Russell Branch and wife Jeanie of Holden, MO and Eddie Barton and wife Susan of Independence, MO; seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; one brother Clyde Ritchie and wife Jan of Lexington, MO; one sister, Goldie Hamel of Polo, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jackie was preceded in death by a brother Vernon “Doc” Ritchie and three sisters, Martha Farmer, Osa Mae Hall and Eunice Jenkins.
Pallbearers will be: Brian Branch, Jim Jones, Jimmy Travis, Steve Bruns, Nathan Branch, Nick Branch and Austin Hall.
