Jerry I. Pickert, 76 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Monterey Park Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Independence, MO.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Saddle Creek Stables 5915 Norfleet Road, Kansas City, MO 64133. A private family inurnment with Military Honors will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Memorials are suggested to the V.F.W. Post 5675 in Odessa. Jerry was born on October 26, 1948, in Jefferson City, MO to Louis W. and Theresa Elizabeth (Stoecklien) Pickert. He graduated from Washington High School in Kansas City, KS. After high school, Jerry served in the United States Army. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1969-1971. Jerry then attended five years of trade school. Jerry worked in the Fire Protection Industry for 32 years as a Sprinkler Fitter. He was a member of the Sprinklers Fitters Union, Our Lady Lourdes Catholic Church in Raytown, MO, and a Lifetime Member of the V.F.W. On April 9, 1969, Jerry was united in marriage to Carolyn Jane Brown. On April 12, 2005, Carolyn preceded him in death. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Jerry had a love of muscle cars and collecting tractors.
Jerry is survived by three children, Shana (Brian) Watley of Blue Springs, MO, Tracy (Robert) McDaniel of Grain Valley, MO, and Mike Pickert of Odessa, MO; four grandchildren, Tim McDaniel, Halston Watley, Robert McDaniel, Jr., and Alexis McDaniel; 13 great-grandchildren; five siblings, his twin sister, Judy (Jan) Bornholdt of Omaha, NE, Jane (Ron) Zeller of Piolet Grove, MO, Jack (Barb) Pickert of Bonner Springs, MO, Mary (Jim) Scott, Columbia, MO, and Betty Snavely of Lenexa, KS; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jerry was preceded in death by four siblings, Lou Woods, Sonny Pickert, Patricia Pavelac, and Joan McDaniel.
