James William Mullins, 80, of Oak Grove, Missouri formerly of Odessa, MO passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 in Independence, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Blue Springs, MO. James was born on October 3, 1936 in Kansas City, MO to Benjamin & Alma (Mox) Mullins. He graduated in 1954 from Central High School in Kansas City, MO. He served in the United States Airforce until being Honorably Discharged. On November 22, 1968 he married Laura Lee (Hopkins) Mullins in Brunswick, MO. Laura preceded him in death on November 11, 2015. James retired from Schifman Printing in Kansas City, MO. James was a member and Past President of the Graphic Communications IBT local 16-C. James also belonged to the Knights Pythias Lodge 97 in Odessa. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, James enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include three daughters, Victoria Jay Stewart and husband Steve of Garland, Texas, Star Lee Ragon and husband Steve of Odessa, MO and Karen Kay Brown of Oak Grove, MO; eight grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Terry Mullins of Kansas City, MO, Wayne Mullins and wife Karen of Kilmarnock, Virginia; a sister Jean Saunders and husband Bob of Brunswick, MO and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by a great grandson, Alexzander O’Bryan and a sister, Esther Mae Elliott.
