James Robert “Bob” Michael, 85, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 7995 Outer Rd., Odessa, MO, 64076. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Church. Burial with military rites will be in the Odessa Cemetery. James was born on November 24, 1932 in Sedalia, MO to James Edwin and Dorothy Rachel (Hall) Michael. He graduated in 1950 from Clinton High School in Clinton, MO. On August 17, 1950 after graduating high school, James enlisted in the United States Navy and served until September 2, 1953 when he was Honorably Discharged. On October 10, 1954 he married Betty Nadine (Russell) Michael in LaMonte, MO. James was the Owner and President of Welder’s Products & Service in Kansas City, MO from 1963 until retiring in 1992. In addition to the welding business, James enjoyed raising horses, cattle and hogs on the family farm in Odessa. He was Baptist by faith. James was a member of the American Angus Association and the Morgan Horse Association. In addition to spending time with family and friends, James (WF0X) enjoyed amateur radio and country & western and ballroom dancing.
James is survived by his wife, Betty Michael of Odessa, MO; four children, Alan Michael and wife Kimberly, Kevin Michael and wife Kay, both of Odessa, MO, Karen Michael and husband David Dickmeyer of Higginsville, MO and Terry Michael and wife Barb of Edgerton, Kansas; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Carolyn Louise Michael of Sedalia, MO and Marilyn Ruth Nichols and husband Charles of Roland, Iowa.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
