James “Jr.” Franklin Barnes, Jr., 86 of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Friday, February, 15, 2019 at the North Kansas City Hospice House, in North Kansas City, MO.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 S. St., Lexington, MO, 64067, 660-259-2245. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lexington Memory Gardens. Jr. was born on May 25, 1932 in rural Lafayette County to James Franklin Barnes, Sr. and Lula (Pointer) Barnes. He married Loretta Short and then later married Marilyn Blumberg who preceded him in death on January 24, 2002. Jr. was a co-owner of Barnes & Olds Sinclair Service Station and also worked at 224 Tire Service. Jr. was a mechanic by trade, and will be remembered in the Lexington community for his expert mechanic work to hundreds of patrons. Jr. enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid hunter & fisherman. He loved the outdoors and raising numerous arrays of animals.
Survivors include two children, Jamie Barnes and wife Mary Anne of Blue Springs, MO and Tammy Wisdom of Paducah, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; one brother Leroy Barnes and Janice of Lexington, MO; a very special friend, Blanche Beckman of Wellington, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jr. was preceded in death by a son Danny Barnes and six sisters.
