James (Jim) Orlin Hinrichs, 78, Odessa, passed away at St. Mary’s Medical Center on Saturday, December 01, 2018 after a sudden illness. Funeral Services for Jim will be held on Wednesday, December 5th at 1:00 pm at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, Odessa, MO. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December, 4th from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
James Orlin Hinrichs was born on August 24, 1940 in Kansas City, MO to John Willard and Anna Lee Phipps Hinrichs. He Married Judy Lee Barnes on June 30, 1960 in Independence, MO. Jim had worked for Fike Metal Corporation at the Head of Research and Development and he retired after 53 years. He was a member of the Blue Springs Elks Lodge. Jim was loved by all the neighbors, friends and a herd of dogs! He and Judy owned Da-Hi Bait and Tackle in Odessa from 1972 to 1991. He had Judy were the original creators of the Odessa Clothes Closet.
Jim is survived by his three sons, James (Jay) Hinrichs and wife Gloria, Warsaw, MO. John Hinrichs and wife Renee, Maryville, MO; Jeffery Hinrichs and wife Laurie, Wentzville, MO. There are 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Peggi Harrington and husband John, Durham, NC. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judy, and two brothers, Michael and Kenneth Hinrichs.
