James Edward Cole, 71, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at his home. James Edward Cole was born August 25, 1939 in Mayview, MO, the son of Kenneth and Rebecca Scott Cole. He married Dawn Benita Turner on July 2, 1962 in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Cole was a shipyard welder and had worked at HVAC (heating and cooling) as well as Frito-Lay and Boeing Corporation. He was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Cole is survived by his wife, Dawn Cole, of St. Louis, MO. Five children: Dwain Cole, Independence, MO, Sherri Cole, St. Louis, MO, Marilyn Cole, Independence, MO, Carmellia McCray, Blue Springs, MO, and Rebecca Reed, Independence, MO. Five brothers: Charles Cole and wife, Ruth, N. Kansas City, Harold Cole and wife, Vera, McAllister, OK, Larry Cole, Mayview, Albert Cole and wife, Roberta, Lexington and William Cole, Warrensburg, MO. Three sisters: Ruth Miller, Derby, KS, Mildred Allen, Richmond, MO, and Verda Johnson and husband, Robert, Blue Springs, MO, and an Aunt, Blondell Erby, Colorado Springs, CO. There are nine grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Kenneth Cole, Sr. and Rebecca Cole Cahill; a granddaughter: Nytiesha; brothers: Kenneth Cole, Jr. and Lloyd Cole; and two sisters: Joan Smith and Marilyn Bass. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Lexington United Methodist Church. Burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery near Mayview with military rites. Visitation from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the family.
