David LeRoy Watson

David LeRoy Watson, 71, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the Odessa Community of Christ. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second Street, Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. David was born on July 25, 1942 in Phoenix, Arizona to Cecil LeRoy and Sybil Eunice (Bradford) Watson. He was a 1960 graduate of the Odessa High School. On September 3, 1961 David was united in marriage to Pauline Kay (Hallier) in Odessa, MO Watson who survives of the home. After 30 plus years, David retired from the United States Postal Service as a Supervisor. He and Pauline are members of the Odessa Community of Christ. David, a longtime member and former pastor of the Odessa Community of Christ held the office of Evangelist. He was an avid reader of western, sci-fi and inspirational books. He loved woodworking and gardening, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, David is survived by three children, Sharon Kay Slater and husband Mike of Oak Grove, MO, Bruce David Watson and wife Sarah of Odessa, MO and Jason Paul Watson and wife Lori of Lees Summit, MO; seven grandchildren, Jessica Voigt and husband Bret of Manhattan, Kansas, Samantha Brucks and husband Carson of Grain Valley, MO, Whitney Slater of Overland Park, KS, Lucas Watson and wife Heather of Oak Grove, MO, Elizabeth Watson of Clinton, MO, Ben Watson of Lees Summit, MO and Megan Watson of Lees Summit, MO; three great grandchildren, Hayden, Ashton and Charlee Brucks; a sister, Beth Pachniak and husband Jim of Edgar, Wisconsin. In addition to his parents David was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Watson and a sister Carol Watson.
