James R. Duvall, 101, of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, MO.
A graveside service will begin at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the Machpelah Cemetery, Lexington, MO. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post #60, Lexington, MO or the VFW Post #4052, Lexington, MO in care of the funeral home. James Royle Duvall II was born on January 28, 1921, in Kansas City, MO to Walter B. and Beullah M. (Navin) Duvall Sr. He grew up in Missouri and graduated from Higginsville High School in 1939. James married Ethel Mae Kendrick in July of 1940 and she preceded him in death on October 14, 1984. James served in the US Army during World War II, serving as a clerk in Gen. MacArthur's office in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked his way up to Executive Vice President with the Dunbrooke Shirt Company starting as a messenger between the factory and office. James married Beverly Jean Brown in July of 1987 and she preceded him in death on February 19, 2021. James was a 63-year member of the American Legion Post #60 of Lexington, a 71-year member of the VFW Post #4052 of Lexington, Lexington Lions Club, and the Lexington Rotary Club. In addition to spending time with family and friends James will be remembered for his love of gardening, golfing, and watching birds.
He is survived by three sons, Jim (Beverlee) Duvall of Lexington, MO, Jon Michael "Mike" (Louise) Duvall of Lexington, MO, Larry Duvall of Higginsville, MO; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Tom Duvall of Kimberling City, MO and sister, Betty Pollard of New Hampshire.
James was preceded in death by his parents, wives, brothers Walter Duvall Jr. and John "Jack" Duvall and sister Mary Duvall.
