James Guy Cook, 56 of Independence, Missouri formerly of Odessa, MO passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in Osceola, MO.
A family hosted Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Odessa V.F.W. Post 5675 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Foundation. James was born on February 4, 1969, in Independence, MO to Floyd Cook and Harrylon Weber. James was raised by his mother and stepfather, Harrylon and John Inman. He spent most of his working life in construction, and occasionally helping his sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Jerry Myres with their excavation business. James had a love for music, fishing, telling good jokes, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
James is survived by his companion of 30 years, Vicki LeAnne Schmidt of Independence, MO; three daughters, Shania Roseler of Odessa, MO, Shelby Cook of Gladstone, MO, and Chelsea Cook of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Blaze Roseler and Asher Roseler; three sisters, Anita (John) Anderson of Odessa, MO, Lisa (Jerry) Myres of Odessa, MO, and Cinnamon Specht of Kansas City, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Cook.
