Irma Frances Nance, 78, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Odessa, 100 W. Hwy OO, Odessa, MO, 64076. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the church. Burial will be in the Odessa City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Lafayette County Cancer Coalition. Irma was born on January 23, 1936 in Springfield, MO to Ralph & Eula Mae (Petty) Butts. In 1953 she graduated from Marshfield High School in Marshfield, MO. After high school she attended Central Missouri State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Master’s Degree in Special Education and a Specialist Degree in Education. On April 13, 1957 she was united in marriage to Jerry Nance in Springfield, MO. Irma was the last full time School Teacher for the Elm one room schoolhouse in Elm, MO. The Elm School has since been restored and relocated to Warrensburg, MO. She retired from the Odessa School District. Irma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa, MO. She was a founding director for the Lafayette County Cancer Coalition and served on the Board of Directors for the Odessa Clothes Closet. Irma was a member of the Missouri Campers on Mission, Missourians on Mission, MO-Kan Antique Engine Club, Lathrop Antique Engine Club, Maytag Collectors Club, MSTA, WMU for the First Baptist Church, and served in many different capacities throughout the church. Her hobbies included cooking, reading, traveling, swimming, writing and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Nance of Odessa, MO; a son, Steve Nance and wife Kathy of Odessa, MO; two daughters, Stacy Nance Berry and husband Elvy Burrus, Jr. of Odessa, MO; and Alisa Nance of Odessa, MO; eight grandchildren, Amy, Mindy, Karley, Chris, Deric, Kendra, Logan and Emily; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene Butts and wife DeEtta of Marshfield, MO; two sisters, Bonnie Roetto and husband Mitchell of Niangua, MO; Judy Hayes of Marshfield, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Rhonda Deann Nance; her brother, Donald Wayne Butts; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry Lee and Patsy Butts; and a brother-in-law, Joe Hayes.
