IRA ALEXANDER HUNTER
Ira Alexander Hunter, 93, of Liberty, Missouri, formerly of Lexington, passed away September 19, 2017 at Northcare Hospice house in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Second Baptist Church, Lexington. Burial will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Mo with military Honors.
Ira was born in Lexington on November 28, 1923 to Benjamin and Rosa (Fraiser) Hunter. He served five campaigns during World War II and earned five bronze stars. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Ira worked as a tool setter for Dupont. He was a member of the Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, the VFW and the American Legion and the 40 and 8 club.
Ira is survived by two children, Damon Hunter and wife, Jamille of Memphis, Tennessee and "D"Ivory Hunter of Lexington, Missouri, there are 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Clark Calhoun, Des Moines, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four children, Ethan, Mitchell, Maurice and Craig Hunter; and three sisters, Dorcas Mason, Sylvia Hunter and Gloria Nesbit and 2 brothers, Elmer and Harold Hunter.
