Eileen Alvena Smith, 91, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Odessa, MO with Reverend Sam Fisher officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Odessa City Cemetery. www.ralphojones.com or on our Facebook Page. Eileen was born on December 25, 1922 in Wellington, MO to Henry and Ardella (Fluesmeier) Potter. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1940. On August 29, 1941 Eileen was united in marriage to William Smith in Wellington, MO. William preceded her in death on June 7, 2003. Eileen was a homemaker. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Martha Chapter169 and a Life Member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary 5675. Her hobbies include playing bingo, fishing, bowling, sewing and being with family and friends. Survivors include three daughters, Judy DeFoe of Odessa, MO, Shirley Hotmer and husband John of Odessa, MO and Susan Kanak and husband Steve of Blue Springs, MO; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Eileen was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Hotmer Rector and a sister, Eunice Bryant.
