Dr. “Doc” Howard Tally Curry, 85, of Oak Grove, Missouri passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Doc’s family will host a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Berry Acres, 6825 Hwy 131, Odessa, MO, 64076.
Doc was born on December 2, 1938, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Dallas Howard and Laura Mae (McDowell) Curry. He attended Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge. After high school he joined the Army and served his country honorably. Doc was a devoted Christian, traveling preacher, and fisher of men who did all he could to spread the Gospel. He was also a frequent guest on a local Christian Southern Gospel Music Show where he was known as "Happy Howard". Doc earned his real estate brokers license and had a passion for real estate, building, and investing. Doc had a passion for helping others and ultimately started attending Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City where he earned his doctorate. Doc practiced in the Independence, MO for 34 years owning and operating Curry Chiropractic Clinic. On September 1, 1975, Doc was united in marriage to Mary Kathleen Angell in Elkhart, Kansas. Doc has always had a love for aviation and became a licensed pilot. Doc was a gifted piano player, playing by ear. In addition to spending time with family and friends, he was an avid reader and loved to study and learn. Rodeo and horseback riding was a favorite time for Doc, as a younger man he rode bulls and bareback broncs. He was the best story teller in the world. He was a long standing Mason for over 50-years.
Doc is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Curry of Oak Grove, MO; five children, Stephanie Schibler of Blue Springs, MO, Daniel Howard (Jenny) Curry of Wheelerville, North Carolina, Angela (Alan) Berry of Odessa, MO, Adrianne (Rick) Salyer of Kingsville, MO, and Amber (Mike) Hinton of Grain Valley, MO; seven grandchildren, Mackenzie (Kodie) Burns, Seth Schibler, Adam Curry, Taylor Curry, Sydney Berry, Hailey Salyer, and Hanna Curry; one great granddaughter, Ellie Burns; a sister, Carolyn Cummings of Ft. Worth, Texas; and many relatives and friends.
Doc was preceded in death by his parents.
