Helen Margaret Hotmer passed away on January 22, 2021 at the age of 91.
Born January 1, 1930 in Lexington, MO seventh of ten children, she was the daughter of the Martin Alona Parker and Julia Catherine Shutt Parker.
She married Leonard Stephen Hotmer on September 3, 1948. They moved from Lexington to Odessa in 1962. She raised 4 children while working at the Higginsville Garment Factory and Lake City. After retiring from both, she then worked at the Odessa R-7 school cafeteria for several years before finally enjoying retirement in her later years. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Helen enjoyed cross stitching and reading.
She was a member of the St George Catholic Church, Odessa, MO and Prime Timers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Barbara Hotmer; one grandson, Leonard F. Hotmer II, four brothers; James Parker, Ryland Parker, JB Parker, Walter Parker; four sisters; Catherine Ellison, Dorothy Drake, Geneva Chedotte, & Nona Johnson.
Surviving are three sons; Steve (Linda) Hotmer, Odessa, MO, Leonard Hotmer, Odessa, MO, Donald (Sharon) Hotmer, Odessa, MO; one daughter, Judy Hotmer, Blue Springs, MO and a sister, Bonnie Neece, Lexington, MO.
8 Grandchildren; James (Becky) Hotmer, Lee’s Summit, MO, Mike (Rhonda) Frerking, Odessa, MO, Robert (Joy) Hotmer, Odessa, MO, Chad Shannon, Indiana, Dena (Brad) Faith, Columbia, MO, Tisha (Allen) Ostermeyer, Odessa, MO, Morgan Frerking, Blue Springs, MO, and Phillip Hotmer, Blue Springs, MO.
15 great grandchildren; Amethyst Amsler, Benjamin & Weston Hotmer; Lane, Kennedy, & Aron Frerking, Adrienne Pate; Kaylin & Margaret Hotmer; Isaac, Anabelle & Everett Faith; Johnathon & Allie Ostermeyer and Zelda Frerking.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Old Catholic Cemetery in Lexington, MO.
