Helen Martha McCormick, 94, passed away February 3, 2022 at Cedarhurst Memory Care in Waterloo, Illinois.
Helen was born on December 12, 1927 in Westphalia, Kansas to parents Wesley and Pauline Williams. Helen was married to Leonard Dale on September 3, 1948 and had 73 years of a very happy marriage until he passed away in December, 2021.
After graduating from high school in 1945 at Burlington, Kansas, Helen went to Phoenix, Arizona to visit her grandmother and work for the Mountain States Telephone Co. She worked there for two years before moving back to Kansas City in 1947 and working as a bookkeeper for Commercial Credit Corporation. She worked there until she began raising a family. After the youngest was old enough to go to school, she went to work for the Raytown School District Food Services. She was the cafeteria manager at Raytown South High School, and retired in 1988 after 25 years of service.
Helen and her husband loved taking the children camping, fishing, mountain hikes and visiting many points of interest and parks. Since her retirement she and Dale enjoyed traveling around the United States visiting family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and making all types of food dishes. She enjoyed reading novels and magazines. She loved to work outside with her flowers, especially daylilies and a yearly vegetable garden.
Helen is survived by a brother John (Wilda) Williams of LeRoy, Kansas, son Larry (Shelley) McCormick of Waterloo, IL, daughters Rita Rollinson of Raytown, MO and Norma (Bill) Ogroski of Tucson, AZ, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Dale, parents Wesley and Pauline Williams, brothers Roger, Wesley Jr., Dallas, and Paul Williams, Sisters Virginia Kienzle, Dorothy Taylor, Kathleen Winn, and son Alan McCormick.
