Hazel Charlene Hiatt

Hazel Charlene (Hughes) Hiatt, 94, of Lexington, Missouri passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation in Richmond, MO.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023, at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be in Machpelah Cemetery. Charlene was born on February 2, 1929, in Lexington, Missouri to C. Orvelle and Meadie Hughes.  She graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington, MO.  On July 5, 1951, Charlene was united in marriage to William Howard Hiatt, he preceded her in death on May 21, 1994.  She worked for the Higginsville Habilitation Center and retired from the Garment Factories in Higginsville and Lexington.  Charlene was always busy, after retirement she cared for children in her home.  She volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels.  Charlene was a member of the Presbyterian Disciples of Christ in Lexington.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, Charlene loved her flower garden and tending to her animals.   

Charlene is survived by a dear friend and caretaker, Chuck Harlan of Lexington, MO and many extended relatives and friends. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Charlene was preceded in death by a brother, James Allen Hughes and a sister, Thelma Louise Hughes.
