Dama Cooper, 70, of Bates City, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, May, May 6, 2013 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second St., Odessa, MO, 64076. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. www.ralphojones.com. Dama was born on November 8, 1942 in Lawrence, Kansas to Earnest Maglothen and Dorothy M. (Blurton) Cooper. Dama graduated from Atchison High in Atchison, KS. After graduation he attended Central Missouri State University where he earned a degree in Criminal Justice. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1965. He started his career as a Police Officer in Warrensburg, MO and later started working for the Kansas City Police Department until retirement. He was a past Chapter 2 Commander of the Disabled American Veterans, and past State Commander. On November 30, 1982 he married Glenda Sue Mitchell in Kansas City, MO. Glenda passed away on February 24, 2013. Dama loved to go deer hunting, fishing and travel with Glenda to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Survivors include three daughters, Deana Bozeman and husband Robert of Independence, MO, Dawn Poole of Kansas City, MO and Dana Cooper of Kansas City, MO; 3 granddaughters and 2 great grandsons; a brother-in-law David Mitchell and wife Zona of Lees Summit, MO. In addition to his parents and wife Dama was preceded in death by a brother Wyman Cooper.
