Grace (Fasse) Niemeier, age 90, of Higginsville, MO, died April 6, 2025, at the Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, MO. She was born on June 10, 1934, to John August and Clara (Nolte) Fasse, on a farm near Higginsville, MO.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2025, at Salem United Church of Christ 1500 N Main St. Higginsville, MO 64037. A memorial service will follow at the church. Inurnment will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to the Salem United Church of Christ Growth Fund. Grace was a 1952 graduate of Higginsville High School. During her life, she worked for the Bank of Higginsville, at the office of veterinarians Dr. H.H. Roberson and Dr. Leech, as a bookkeeper at Wentworth Military Academy, and finally for Edgar Oetting, County Clerk of Lafayette County, from 1973 until her retirement in 1996. Since in 1973 voter registration was mandated by the state, along with Mr. Oetting, she was a key part of the process of registering the voters of Lafayette County. After her retirement, she worked part-time for Jarman Insurance Co. in Higginsville.
Grace enjoyed baseball, and her favorite team was the St Louis Cardinals. She and her husband, Hayes, stayed close with his army buddies from the time he served in Korea. She was a member of the Higginsville Garden Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Red Hats. Grace was a life-long member of Salem United Church of Christ where she was baptized, confirmed and married and served as a member of the Board of Elders and Women’s Fellowship.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis (Hayes) Niemeier, her parents, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie (Fasse) Knipmeyer and Randall Knipmeyer, and Ruth (Fasse) Struchtemeyer and Leonard Struchtemeyer. She is survived by a niece, Barbara Struchtemeyer; four nephews, Elden Knipmeyer (Vicki), Clifford Knipmeyer (Bess), Dennis Knipmeyer (Judi), Leland Struchtemeyer (Susie); and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
