Gordon Lee Johnson, 73 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at home surrounded by family.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2023, at the Ralph O Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO.  Interment will be in the Odessa Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church.  Memories of Gordon and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page.   

 

Gordon was born on November 29, 1949 in Independence, MO to Gordon W. and Elizabeth (Snow) Johnson.  After graduating from Raytown High School he enlisted in the United States Navy where he earned the Nation Defense Medal.  On August 29, 1987 he was united in marriage to Joyce Elaine Hobbs in Hesperia, California.  Gordon retired from Southwestern Engineering as the Plant Manger after 36 years of service.  He is a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa and the VFW.  In addition to spending time with family and friends, Gordon enjoyed golfing, traveling, fishing and working on cars. 

 

Gordon is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elaine Johnson of Odessa, MO; eight children, Teressa DeAtley of Cucamonga, CA, Christine Schwegman (Rowdy) of Apple Valley, CA, Stacey Cooper (Ray) of Valley Springs, CA, Ross Bailey (Cindy) of San Antonio, TX, Chris Johnson (Alyson) of Apple Valley, CA, Amanda Bailey of Odessa, MO, Chad Bailey (Kati) of Phelan, CA, and Monica Line (Troy Hoffmann) of Landers, CA; 15 grandchildren, Brenden, Zachary, Jayson, Michael, Felicity, Chloe’, Devin, Storm, Jesse, Laura, Kayla, Kadin, Quinn, Hunter, and Ryker Creek; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Johnson (Barbara) of Henderson, NV; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.    

 

In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Johnson, and a brother, Steve Johnson.
