Freddie Lee King, 77, of Lexington, passed away September 13, 2018 at his home. Funeral service will be Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, Lexington. Visitation will also be on Sunday at the church from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Burial with Military Honors will be in Green Castle Cemetery, Green Castle, Missouri on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Fred was born November 2, 1940 in Sticklerville, Missouri to David and Nannie (Dickerson) King. He served in the United States Army. He married Juanita Colleen Moffitt on February 7, 1963 in Kirksville, Missouri. He barbered for Wentworth Military Academy for several years and then owned and operated his own barber shop in Lexington. Fred owned and operated King Realty. He was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church, Lexington. He was a member of the Lexington Elks and served as Lexington Little League Baseball Commissioner. He was also a member and past president of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce.
Fred is survived by his wife Colleen, of the home; children Kara Welch of Lexington, Guy King and wife Melanie of Emma, and Dana Scott and husband Jeff of Pleasant Hill; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and brother Veldon King of Ottumwa, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis; brothers, Junior King and Bernie King; and sister, Imogene Claybrook.
