Frances "Fran" Mae Barner, 77, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at home. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the New Horizon Presbyterian Church in Odessa, MO with Pastor Paula Isgrig officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be held at a later date in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. Memorials are suggested to the Wayside Waifs, 3901 E. 119th St., Kansas City, MO 64137. Condolences may be left at www.ralphojones.com. Arrangements are entrusted to the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 South Second Street, Odessa, MO, 64076, (816) 633-5524. Fran was born on July 1, 1935 in Lathrop, MO to John Fulton and Lucille (Masoner) Bryan. She graduated from Lathrop High School in 1953. After high school she attended Central State Missouri University in Warrensburg, MO. On April 3, 1954 she was united in marriage to Myron Dey Barner in Lathrop, MO. Myron preceded her in death on June 7, 2007. Fran and Myron are members of the New Horizon Presbyterian Church. She is a member of the Mariners Fellowship group. After fifteen years Fran retired from Armstrong and Teasdale Law Firm as a Bookkeeper. Fran and Myron traveled the Midwest showing English Mastiff dogs. Her hobbies included baking, needlepoint and playing bridge. She enjoyed spending time with her family and after her retirement her favorite thing to do was to have breakfast and coffee at Morgans Restaurant. Fran is survived by three children, Alan Barner and wife Janet of Odessa, MO, Bryan Barner and wife Brenda of Lees Summit, MO and Alison Gerken and husband James of Lees Summit, MO; eight grandchildren, Jannan Bradley and husband Daniel, Joshua Barner, Daniel Jacob Barner, Vanessa Fahle and husband Scott, Britney Meyer and husband Caleb, Cortney Gerken, Conor Gerken and Casidae Gerken; three great grandchildren, Colton Bradley, Carson Bradley and Zara Mae Barner; a sister, Jeannine Perren and husband Dwain of Holt, MO; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Fran was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lyndsay Nicole Barner and a sister Janelle Kelp.
