William "Sonny" Lester Fischer was born on April 3, 1934, the only son of William Joseph Fischer, Jr. and Mary Louise Disch, at the family home north of Odessa, MO and passed away Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Veteran Hospital, Kansas City, MO. He attended Greenton rural School for his first five years, he completed his education at the Odessa Public School, graduating from Odessa High School as vice-president of the senior class on 1952. William lived all his life in the Odessa area except two years of military service in the military police corp; and served as a guard at the Arlington National Cemetery. He was a member of St. Georges Church. He was employed 20 years at the Odessa Market, retiring from Cosentinos Price Chopper, Blue Springs on December 28, 1998 completing 45 years in the grocery business. He is survived by three nephews, Donnie Eugene Geary and wife, Cathy, Mayview, Ronald Lee Geary, and wife Sheryl, Darrel Lester Geary, of Odessa, many nieces and nephews, and three cousins, Dorothy Steward, Marguerite Knutzen and Frances May Dunzancky. Mr. Fischer was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Ann Geary. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 1:00 PM at St. Georges Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at noon on Tuesday with visitation held until service time. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Lexington. MO.
