ETHEL MAE ANNA STEFFENS

Ethel Mae Anna Steffens, 91, of Higginsville, MO passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville. Services for Ethel Mae will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington, MO. Burial will be Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Corder, MO. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2016 also at the Church. Memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church.

Ethel Mae Heimsoth was born November 7, 1925 at Lake Creek, near Cole Camp, MO, the daughter of Erich Richard Heimsoth and Johanna Harms Heimsoth. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Vesper Guild and taught Sunday School for years. She was active with 4-H, Locust Grove Extension, and on the Lafayette Extension Council. Ethel Mae worked at several different places over the years. First for Citizens Telephone Co. in Corder, MO as the switchboard operator, Kerr's Apple Orchard, PN Hirsch's clothing store in Lexington, and at the Higginsville Habilitation Center for several years. Ethel Mae had been a foster grandparent with the Lexington School District for many years.

Ethel Mae loved crafts, gardening, and flower gardening. Her next love was traveling, including, The Holy Land, Petro Greece, Turkey, Germany, France, New Zealand and Alaska.

Ethel Mae is survived by her children: Joan Fahrmeier (Ron), Lexington, James Steffens (Denise) Lexington, and Phyllis Nuelle (Bob), of Higginsville. There are nine grandchildren: Brandon Fahrmeier (Mary), Bradley Fahrmeier (Lacey), Bret Fahrmeier (Lorin), Jill Heneghan (Kevin), Jenny Hobick (Mike), Josh Steffens (Claire), Alex Nuelle, Ben Nuelle, and Chad Nuelle. Eight great-grandchildren: Carly, Chloe, Chesney, Murphy, Sam, Kate , James "Gus", and Emma. Sisters: Shirley Bertz, Lexington, and Carolyn Elsea, Higginsville. Step-sisters: Elaine Tieman, Higginsville, Dorothy Hamilton, and Judith Tyler, Corder. Sister-in-laws: Dorothy Heimsoth, Judy Heimsoth, Betty Heimsoth and Stella Heimsoth.

Ethel Mae was preceded in death by Harvey Steffens, her parents, brothers: Vernon, Victor, Harvey, Melvin, and Eric. Sisters: Evelyn Fricke, Irma Camp, and Katheryn LaRue.
