Erma Jean (Schmidt) Bybee, 78, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington, MO
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524 with Reverend Terry Hodges officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Erma was born on June 21, 1936 to Charles William and Erma Pauline (Hergemueller) Schmidt. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1954. On June 16, 1956 she married Kenneth Calvin Bybee in Odessa, MO with Reverend Thomas Dyer officiating. Kenneth preceded her in death on January 17, 2013. Erma worked at the Town and Country Shoe Factory, Lafayette Sportswear and for Patsy Bee’s Garment Factory as a Seamstress in Blue Springs, MO. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Erma also loved working outdoors.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra Phillips and husband Hap of Odessa, MO, a grandson, Reed Phillips and wife Gretchen of Oak Grove, MO; a great grandson, Henry Phillips of Oak Grove, MO; three sisters, Bernice Gann and husband Frederick of Odessa, MO, Nancy Flynn of Odessa, MO and Betty Forbes of Lexington, MO; a sister-in-law, Minnie Schmidt and sister-in-law, Mabel Spencer and husband Charles of Odessa, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Erma was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Ray Schmidt and Robert William Schmidt
