Elton Taggart

Elton G. Taggart, 90 of Oak Grove, MO, formerly of Odessa, MO passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, surrounded by his family at Benton House in Blue Springs, MO.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Odessa Cemetery in Odessa, MO. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Odessa. Elton was born on July 5, 1934, in Mooresville, MO to Roy J. and Irene C. (Stone) Taggart. He graduated in 1953 from Odessa High School. On June 3, 1956, Elton was united in marriage to Carol M. Porter in Robbins, MO. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2020. Elton worked most of his life as a journeyman with Fruehauf Trailers and Kaw Trucking. He was a member and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Odessa, MO.

Elton is survived by two children, Steve (Sharon) Taggart of Odessa, MO and Tresa (Max) Overfield of Blue Springs, MO; six grandchildren, Clint (Alesha) Taggart, Joshua (Mary) Taggart, Caleb (Sammi) Taggart, Alyssa (Chris) Overfield-Shultz, Crystal (Jason) Kusick, and John (Stephanie) Stewart; nine great-grandchildren, Eli Taggart, Nathan Taggart, Brayden Taggart, Brynley Taggart, Ava Kusick, Isaac Kusick, Sophia Kusick, Hunter Stewart, and Abby Stewart; and many relatives and friends. 

In addition to his parents and wife, Elton was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ann Wheeler, and a brother in infancy.
