Elizabeth (Betty) Duncan Lee
Elizabeth Duncan Lee, formerly of Lexington, MO, died January 25th, 2017, at Bishop Spencer Place in Kansas City, MO. Elizabeth was born November 29, 1911, in Detroit, MI, daughter of William Stephenson and Louise Jamieson Duncan, and married Edward George Lee, May 20, 1936 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Algonac, Michigan. She resided at Bishop Spencer Place in Kansas City, Mo since 1997.
Elizabeth graduated from Wayne State University, Detroit, with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in the College of Liberal Arts. She attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO and University of Missouri, Columbia for graduate studies. She taught English at Lexington High School for 18 years.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Lexington, Lafayette-Lexington Chapter DAR, National Retired Teachers Association, and Lexington Retired Teachers Association. As an amateur genealogist, she was a member of Genealogy Societies in Michigan, Vermont, Canada, and England.
Elizabeth is survived by daughter, Barbara Jean (Lee) Fay and her husband, William A. Fay of Overland Park, KS, and son, William Duncan Lee and his wife Kathy of Dayton, NV; five grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and one brother; and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017at Christ Episcopal Church, 13th & Franklin, Lexington, MO. The family suggests contributions be made to Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 307, Lexington, MO 64067, or to Bishop Spencer Place 4301 Madison, Kansas City, MO 64111. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the kind caregivers at Bishop Spencer Place who helped care for Betty for many years.
