Edward Elliott Sawyer, 87, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524, with Reverend Terry Hodges officiating. No Visitation. Burial with military honors will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the charity of donor’s choice. Edward was born on September 16, 1927 in Piedmont, MO to Everett and Pearl (Savage) Sawyer. Edward worked as an over the road truck driver most of his life for various companies. He was a Veteran in the United States Navy serving from April 1944 to May of 1946. Edward served in World War II and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal-5 Stars, World War II Victory Medal, and Philippine Liberation Medal-2 Stars. On December 30, 1976 he married Marjorie Decker in Maryville, MO. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include three children, Donald E. Sawyer and wife Carol of Sedalia, MO, LeAnn Wees and husband Dennis of Lowery City, MO and Barbara Ferguson of Osceola, MO; and five grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Donna Graben Sawyer
