Douglas Alan Snyder, 56, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, with Reverend Terry Hodges officiating, 100 W. Hwy OO, Odessa, MO 64076. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Doug was born on September 25, 1957 in Russell, Kansas to Walter and June (Miller) Snyder. Doug graduated from Odessa High School in 1976. On December 11, 1976 Doug married Susan (Seevers) Snyder in Odessa, MO. He retired from the Union Local 315 in Kansas City, MO. After retirement Doug continued working part time for Stever Construction and KC Running Company. Doug attended the First Baptist Church of Odessa. He served on the Odessa Cemetery Board as well as volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Helping Hands. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Doug was an avid KU fan, loved hunting, fishing, and classic cars.
In addition to his wife and mother, Doug is survived by a daughter, Lindsey Blew and husband Steven of Grain Valley, MO, two grandchildren, Landon and Emma Blew of Grain Valley, MO; two brothers Fred Snyder and wife Janice, Jim Snyder and wife Donna ; a sister Janet Buis and husband Jerry all of Odessa, MO; mother and father-in-law, Jeanne & Calvin Soendker of Higginsville, MO; three brother-in-laws, Craig Seevers, Brian Seevers and fiancé Angel, Chris Berry and wife Christine; many nieces and nephews; and dog Roxy.
Doug was preceded in death by a daughter, Brooke Nicole Snyder; father, Walter Snyder and a father-in-law, Gene Berry.
