Dorothy Mercedees (Beach) Moore, 88 years of age, passed away at her home in Higginsville, MO on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. She was born on September 29, 1925 in St. Joseph, MO to Charles and Helen Stetter. Dorothy received an associate degree in Business and was a secretary for various branches of the United States Government. She had been married to Glenn D. Beach and Earl Moore who both preceded her in death. Dorothy had lived in the Kansas City area, in Arapaho, NE while married to Earl Moore, and in Higginsville, MO since 2009. Dorothy had been a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Red Hatters in Higginsville. She enjoyed playing bridge, flowers, birds, and going to Texas for the winters. She loved crocheting and had crocheted over 450 infant hats. Survivors include her daughter Karen Shackelford and husband Randall W. of Lexington, MO; Sons Vernon G. Beach and wife Margie of Arlington, WA, Charles D. Beach and wife Kathryn of Niota, TN, and Craig Moore and wife Mary of Omaha; 14 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild; sisters in law Erna Beach of Beatrice, Jo Ann Hausman and husband Larry of Omaha, Betty Beach of Omaha, and Melodee Costello of CA; and many nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Helen (Cooper) Stetter; husbands Glenn D. Beach and Earl Moore; 2 grandchildren; and son Hugh Moore. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend Charles Spence officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. The body will lie in state Monday from 10-11:00 AM at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice.
