Dorothy W. (Welter) Kolkmeyer

October 20, 1929 — November 21, 2016

Dorothy W. (Welter) Kolkmeyer, 87, resident of Wellington, Missouri and wife of the late Omer G. Kolkmeyer, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the St. Luke Evangelical Free Church, 700 W. Highway 224, Wellington, MO, 64097 with Pastor Todd Wallace and Andrew Sloan Officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the church. Burial will be in the St. Luke Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. Luke Evangelical Free Church. Condolences for the family may be left at www.ralphojones.com or on our Facebook Page. Dorothy was born on October 20, 1929 in Levasy, MO to Daniel L. & Rebecca D. (Stoenner) Welter. She graduated from Levasy High School. On April 30, 1950 Dorothy married Omer G. Kolkmeyer in Levasy, MO. On July 15, 1955 Dorothy and Omer purchased Taylor Oil Company in Wellington and changed the name to Wellington Oil & Gas Co., Dorothy was the Bookkeeper. After retiring from the oil company in 1988, Dorothy babysat several of her grandchildren and for many families in the Wellington area. Dorothy and Omer were members of the St. Luke Evangelical Free Church where she taught children’s Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Borgman-Osthoff American Legion Post 134 Auxiliary and a member and Past Secretary of the Wellington AARP. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Dorothy enjoyed quilting, square dancing, and taking care of her cats.

Dorothy is survived by three children, Ardith Sloan and husband Andrew of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Glen Kolkmeyer and wife Lisa of Odessa, MO and Anita Edmonds and husband David of Lexington, MO; six grandchildren, Nathan Sloan and wife Laura, Eric Kolkmeyer and wife Heidi, Emily Kolkmeyer-Wilson and husband Brian, Derek Edmonds and wife Kati and Bailey Edmonds; nine great grandchildren, Aleah and Lucas Kolkmeyer, Ean, Zoe and Mia Wilson and Caleb, Elijah, Anna and Eve Sloan.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a Granddaughter Abbie Edmonds, a brother Robert Welter and a sister Ruth Hoffman.

Pallbearers are ~ Nathan Sloan, Eric Kolkmeyer, Derek Edmonds, Brian Wilson, Stuart Welter and Kyle Kolkmeyer

Honorary Pallbearers are ~ Ronald Hoffman, Ernest Flucke, Mark Schroer, Fred Friedrich, Alvin Fahrmeier and Conrad Hoffman
