Dorothy Lorene Dodd, 86, of Mayview, MO formerly of Joplin, MO, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Riverbend Heights Care Center in Lexington, MO.

Dorothy was born on September 1, 1928 in Duenweg, MO to Lee Travis and Mary Ofa (Maryman) Petty, Sr... She graduated from Duenweg High School. She worked for Southwest Oil Company as a Secretary. Dorothy was Methodist by faith. She was a member of the Higginsville VFW Ladies Auxiliary 6270 and the State Genealogy Society. She enjoyed cooking, collecting coins, crocheting, gardening and her beloved animals.
Survivors include four children, Billye Davis and husband Roland of Mayview, MO, Barbara Gilbreath and husband (Tom) of Carthage, MO, Jimmy Dodd of Joplin, MO and Robert Dodd and wife Janet of Kearney, MO; five grandchildren, Gail Holt, Melanie Davis, Miranda Davis, Curtis and Mike Dodd, five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son, George Dodd, two brothers, Lee Travis Petty, Jr. and Robert Petty; and a sister, Musetta Stratton.
